ABOUT US

St.Thomas Evangelical church of India fellowship is a part of the Malankara Syrian church of Malabar which was founded by St.Thomas ,one of the apostles of jesus who arrived in india in AD 52 .St Thomas Evangelical church of India became an independent church in 26 Jan 1961.

This church is Episcopal, evangelical and Eastern in it’s practice. It was an after effect of the reformation in Malankara Syrian church in 1830s by Abraham malpan and kaithayil Geevarghese malpan.

In 1830s when the CMS missionaries arrived, they started to teach Bible and eventually established a seminary in Kottayam. There they started to translate the Bible into Malayalam.

As a result of this interested people started reading and understanding the word of God,which brought a reformation in the church. This reformed church existed in Malankara church till 1889. From 1889 onwards, this reformed fraction became an independent church under Malankara marthoma Syrian church.

After some years,in 1960s ,when the spiritual inclined members of the marthoma Church had some doctrinal differences with the then metropolitan Mar Yuhanon,it led to the establishment of St.thomas Evangelical church of India.

Within few years of its establishment, there arose some litigations regarding its episcopacy.Accordingly, from 1968 the actual Episcopacy and lineage of the St.thomas Evangelical church of India vested on the side of the Fellowship Group.

In the year 2002, the honourable High Court of Kerala proclaimed two groups in the church as two different entities, that is St. Thomas Church of India and St. Thomas church of India fellowship.

We are proud that we are a part of the Malankara Syrian Church. We are Evangelical in nature, Episcopal in administration, Eastern in tradition, Oriental in practice and Apostolic in succession.

We, the members of St Thomas Evangelical Church of India Fellowship, a Missionary church. We believe that " all are called not to be successful but to be faithful".

We are the remnant group of reformation in the Malankara.

We are called to be faithful.

OUR VISION

WHAT WE DO

We serve one another and our members sacrificially. We communicate, collaborate and celebrate.

OUR COMMUNITY

We are a high trust and highly trusted organisation with a strong emphasis on truth. We are an organisation which prays regularly and champions prayer. And we pray for each and every one in world.
